Legendary Australian rock icons ‘Rose Tattoo’ are soon embarking on their 4th tour of Europe. Based on their last CD release ‘Blood Brothers’, the ‘Tatts’ have commissioned T-Rex Art to design a Special Limited Edition Tour CD/DVD package. This package features a 2 disc set. The audio disc is the latest album ‘Blood Brothers’ which was released in 2007. This album was a dedication to late previous band members. Drummer Dallas ‘Digger’ Royall, bassist and writer to their huge hit ‘Bad Boy For Love’, Ian Rilen and guitar player/songwriter Pete Wells, Rose Tattoo’s key founding member. The bonus DVD disc features them performing live to a huge audience at the annually held ‘Wacken Festival’. The design for this package was based on the original artwork designed for the ‘Blood Brothers’. Blood Brothers was designed by T-Rex Art in 2007. The ‘Special Tour Edition’ is basically a Digi-Pack designed featuring an inside cover insert encasing a 12 page booklet with lyrics and images.
Outside coverThe cover idea displays the classic Rose Tattoo logo in a ‘Black Chrome’ finish and bearing 3 roses, each rose representing a late member. At the request of lead vocalist Angry Anderson the wording ‘Rose Tattoo’ was re-designed to add an ‘Eastern Touch’ while maintaining the rock’n’roll feel, more importantly maintaining the bands historic roots and integrity. A steel surround border was added to establish the ‘Special Edition’ . Each corner features a chrome skull and crossbones and the lettering is carved into the metal.
Full insideThe inside cover features a message by Angry Anderson. The background ; a ‘rusted’ version of the logo which was originally used as the cover to their 2006 album release ‘PAIN’. This was to be Pete Wells last album with the Tatts. Page 2 is the base for the Blood Brothers CD. Page 3, the base for The “Live At Wacken’ DVD disc. The back of the cover shows a group shot of the boys posterised for effect. Finally the back cover is consistent with the front cover, the logo featured twice and facing each other allowing space for text etc.
The process and tools used in this job were: Illustration of logo by hand then vectorised and streamlined in CorelDraw, finally beveled and treated in Adobe Photoshop and returned to Corel for the adding of Vector images and text.
